Palimpsest
Presenting a selection of videos by Florence Parot Collection of New Media MNAM, Centre Pompidou. This selection will give
watch videos, which make the landscape, light and color essential. Some works are realistic wish - choosing their subjects in contemporary life (Jean-Luc Godard, Rachel Reupke, Bill Viola) - other (Thierry Kuntzel Nik Thoenen & Timo Novotny, Goldt Karo,) will seek to show only the immaterial part of these elements.
Jean Renoir resume here the world of his father, the painter Auguste Renoir. Found, transposed to the cinema, aesthetics and themes Impressionists, so that you can literally match the sequence of part of campaign pictures of the father, The Swing, The Boating Party, or The Promenade. Directed
on the same premises of a Party campaign, which has become reference to the director as evidence after writing the screenplay, Drift evokes many aspects of the film by Renoir. The bucolic setting of course, far from the urban bustle, awakens in the characters same tension between joy and melancholy.
